Faridabad, 13 October (Naveen Gupta): Saffron Public School campus echoed with the celebrations of Dussehra festival to commemorate the victory of good over evil. A 15 feet high effigy of Ravana with its sneering eyes and ten heads was erected in the school playground. All the students and the staff gathered to witness the splendid programme.

The little ones of the pre-primary section set the tone of the event by enacting a few prominent sequences from Ramayana where Kakai asked for two boons from Raja Dashrath. One the crown of Ayodhya for her son Bharat and the other Rama’s exile of 14 years, Ravana’s carrying away of Sita, Hanuman’s burning Lanka and the main fight between Ram and Ravana. Finally the Vanar Sena rejoicing at the victory. The enthusiasm, vibrancy, the costume and the mystical smile with which the story was enacted by the young ones transmitted the onlookers to a different era of the epic ‘Ramayan’

Children enjoyed and clapped as the effigy went up in flames. The programme culminated with the burning effigy hitting the ground and the sound of ‘Jai ShriRam’ echoing high in the air.DSC_0559 [1280x768]
